A Spark of Hope

In the colony, they always said Max was weird or “special.” Let's put more detail into that. He was born like all the other ants from the same mother but he was born as a soldier ant. He had a dark brown exoskeleton and very skinny legs but large head muscles meaning he had good mandible strength. People always said he had this unusual spark. The colony was always such a peaceful and organized colony of ants and they always tried to work together on everything. [[Continue]]

Then one day the ant that was keeping watch of the beautiful backyard that surrounded them and the kids playing on the outside of their little ant village saw something. In the distance, he saw a figure with a dead bug patch on his arm. He looked like a giant shadow with icy cold eyes that could freeze, with fear and who felt evil from where the ant was standing and found out right away it was an exterminator and he immediately reported back to the queen that there were sightings of an exterminator. The queen told the soldiers including Max, to alert the rest of the colony. They did as they were told and were instructing everybody to stay calm. Max knew that the exterminator was going to wipe out his colony so, he decided to make his way from the backyard to the human’s house to reason with them. He knew the challenges that he would face to get to the backdoor of the human's house would be treacherous but he was willing to do anything to protect his colony. [[Continue->paragraph 4]]

His first trial was to make it through the jungle that was their backyard, flowers, and vines crawling everywhere with mysterious chirping sounds and noises of other creatures in the background. He was walking through the moist dirt and was also trying to avoid the gigantic colorful figures that the human’s little human kept on leaving in the backyard. While thwacking away the untamed weeds so it didn't hit him in the face. He made it to a clearing and found other insects that were warning him not to go any further or else. but Max did not want to give up so he continued. The insects were still blocking his way. Then they fought and Max discovered something he never knew was in him, a spark of electricity hit the other bugs from his stinger (even though his ant’s colony usually just has venom in their stinger) he was so shocked at what he had just done. Max decided it was best to go back to his colony and he told the queen that he didn’t think that he was ready for his quest so the queen then called back all soldiers and told everybody to go to the shelter so the whole colony got moved to the shelter. Max felt vibrations and thought that must have been the exterminator’s footsteps and then from the outside the shelter the colony saw a mist and the queen ordered everybody to calmly and carefully put their gas masks on and so they did. Then Max decided to go out of the anthill to see if the exterminator was still there and… HE WAS GONE! Their colony had survived! Then Max came back down the hill and informed everybody of the news that their colony was safe. THE END

He didn't have the time to worry about what he had just done so he kept on going forward. Then just in front of the porch was a dog guarding it, the dog was a giant compared to Max and the dog to max looked as though he was a bear: big, brown and frightening. It was growling deeply shaking Max’s insides. Max was so frightened he didn’t know what to do but right at that lucky moment, the humans used this squeaking device to lure the dog inside making the dog seem like a little puppy for a split second and the dog went inside because his owners said it was time for “dinner”(phew). So he continued his trek to the porch whacking through the grass and weeds that blocked his way, and when he finally made it to the backdoor’s porch. [[Continue->paragraph 6]]

Just then he heard a voice in the distance but slowly getting closer from the shadows, it looked like an old shriveled twig of an ant. With a long-aged beard and twig-like legs in a little wheelchair. As it got closer it smelled of old dirt and age, then Max realized immediately when he came fully into view that it was the long lost elder ant! The elder ant came towards him and said in a raspy voice,” If you are going to enter the human’s house you must take this (He gave Max a voice translator) this will help you in your journeys to deal with that fowl exterminator.” Unless said the old ant,” you are hoping to confront the humans face to face?” [[ Max Goes inside the human's house and reason with them]] [[ Max Tries and defeat the exterminator]]

Max thanks the old ant and walks through the doggy door. When he enters the house he immediately spots the humans tall and big looking like a mountain so then he climbs up a leg of the table where the humans are sitting. Then he turns the speaker full blast and starts talking,” Hello? Testing 1,2,3…” The humans are startled but listening so he continues to talk and tells them about his colony not being a problem for them and to please call off the exterminator or else his family will die. The humans don’t know what to think of this but agree that he was being fair and that they were not being reasonable to the situation and so just before the exterminator got to the colony the humans told him that he can’t continue and that they would still pay him But he did not listen. So the exterminator continued. [[Continue->paragraph 7]]

So Max.. [[ Max thanks him ]] [[Max says, "see-ya!"]]

The world was completely still. Nothing moved, not a leaf quivered, the next few seconds unfolded in slow motion and Max’s mind was racing, he felt this determination for short second it felt like he could actually make it in time and ran straight for the exterminator, but he was not fast enough could this be the end for his colony…”NO, I can still make it!” [[ Max Continues chasing after the Exterminator on foot]] [[ Max Calls for help]]

Max chased after the exterminator just barely holding on to his speed of determination but it was too late Max slowed to a stop and saw the exterminator wiping out his colony. Max was so tired and sad so he lay there sobbing but then he realized too late the exterminator’s spray was slowly creeping up to him his body was exhausted from the usage of his power he was stuck there and couldn’t feel anything the spray clouded vision. He knew that soon his body was going to fall into a deep sleep. The End

Then Max called the dog over as loud as the voice translator could go until the speaker broke, and it surprisingly came running to him, great timing! He talked to the dog and told him about the situation the dog decided to help him out, Max climbed on to his back and the dog charged for the exterminator biting his ankle just before the exterminator made it to the colony. Then Max leaped from the dog (in epic slow motion) and full power charged his stinger making electricity run straight through his veins, he could feel the power surging through him and moving straight into the exterminator, it was so much shock that Max’s sting was like a taser (saying that he is just a tiny ant that’s pretty powerful) the exterminator fell to the floor with a big thundering crash so powerful that the ground shook. Max was victorious! After that big event, Max is exhausted and the dog carries him back home to his colony’s village. [[Continue->paragraph10]]

Max full blasts his mike from where he is and talks to the exterminator about what he is doing to his colony and how he needs to stop. The exterminator stops and thinks about then he walks over to where he thinks the sound is coming from. Max is glad that he was able to get the exterminator’s attention. Then the exterminator sees that its an ant talking to him and then he looks so surprised and scared and then yells,¨ I QUIT!¨ Max is so confused but he is glad that he only sees the exterminator from the distance well I guess that took care of it. Max arrived at his village and everybody was cheering for him and were all shouting “Hero! Hero! Hero!” the whole village was crowded with people and they all seemed like one giant blob making all of the village’s houses seem small and the colonies chants were making a loud blare of noises but Max was tired so all the noise and celebration got muffled as he rested on the soft and warm dog. After that special day, Max was known as the town hero, but sadly with the great usage of his power that day, he slowly got sicker and sicker every day. The townsfolk tried everything like giving him medicine, heating him, or cooling him down to make him feel better but sadly he passed away his last words being... statue out of pebbles and sticks(and sap/glue) to remember him by. Little did they know he was always watching them from above. Max always and forever feeling the warmth of his colony’s love towards him and the statue. The End

and went on until he heard walking get louder on the grass, then the wind among the grass suddenly stopped that shocked him and he looked up at the gigantic figure and saw that it was none other than the exterminator! [[Continue->paragraph 7]]
